Nithila Isaac, who traveled to this year's conference all the way from Doha, Qatar, located in the Middle East, was a first-time attendee. She said she unfortunately gets to attend only two conferences a year, and had already chosen for next year, but plans to attend the TAA Conference again in 2010.

Fred Kleiner, professor of art history and archaeology at Boston University, and editor of the American Journal of Archaeology, demystifies the peer-review process during his 2008 TAA Conference, "Songs of Praise (And Horror): The Journal Reviewing Process".

Molefi Kete Asante, professor of African American Studies at Temple University, and editor of the Journal for Black Studies and the Encyclopedia of Black Studies, received the 2008 Mike Keedy Service Award for dedicated works on behalf of authors for his service on the Text and Academic Authors Foundation Board. Asante has written more than 65 books and 300 articles.
