Learn useful tips and tricks for getting your publication submissions in good shape, which will improve reader retention of material, likelihood of being accepted for publication, ease of writing future work, and your professional reputation.

Topics will include:

  • Main Text Writing Tips: Running text, Style, Lists, Headers, Other elements (boxes, equations, etc.)
  • Tables and Figures: Formatting, Readability, Appropriate use
  • Notes: Footnotes, Endnotes, Style
  • References: Citations in text, Bibliography
  • Getting Help: Writing group, Editors, Publisher

About the Presenter:

Laura Poole has been in the publishing industry for 15 years. In 1997 she started her own company, Archer Editorial Services. She provides professional high-level copyediting to publishers, specializing in scholarly nonfiction projects. She brings a thorough, detail-oriented approach to her work. Her clients have included Oxford University Press, John Wiley & Sons, Duke University Press, Carolina Academic Press, Menasha Ridge Press, and more. She also has training and speaking experience and is a certified professional life coach.
